H.E. Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balooshi, Undersecretary of ADDED, said: “Participating at the GITEX 2020 is important for ADDED in line with its role in leading the emirate’s economic development agenda, particularly in enhancing its investment environment. We are keen to present the Department’s digital services and initiatives and how these add value to investors, businessmen, and representatives of major national, foreign and international companies visiting the event.”

H.E. Al Balooshi highlighted that GITEX is considered the most significant regional technology event and platform to showcase digital transformation, and that the Abu Dhabi Government Pavilion will feature the various government entities of the emirate with their smart digital solutions, services and initiatives, demonstrating Abu Dhabi’s strategic efforts towards achieving a comprehensive digital transformation of its services. He also noted that the exhibition offers key opportunities to learn about the most advanced global technologies and the latest trends concerning digital solutions and smart transformation.

Al Balooshi further added: “Holding this global technology event live in the UAE demonstrates the country’s success in addressing the challenges being posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, confirming the nation’s capability to maintain its global leadership as it adopts the highest safety standards and implements the necessary precautionary and preventive measures to protect everyone, the UAE’s residents and visitors alike.”

He stated that ADDED has been participating at GITEX every year to present its key smart digital services and initiatives as well as highlight Abu Dhabi's position as a hub for digital transformation in the region which adopts the latest digital transformation systems worldwide.

The ADDED Undersecretary also emphasized that the Department is committed to continue its efforts of providing services and implementing initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing the business environment and investment climate in Abu Dhabi across various vital non-oil sectors, through the use of digital transformation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), which are essential in today’s modern economies and developed countries.

H.E. Al Balooshi mentioned that ADDED’s pioneering digital initiatives will be showcased within the Abu Dhabi Government Pavilion, including the ‘E-Investor’s Compass,’ an initiative which provides investors and business owners with an integrated database of licensed economic and service activities over the cities and regions of Abu Dhabi.

Al Balooshi further cited ADDED’s ‘Smart Emergency and Control Room’ initiative which is being implemented through the Abu Dhabi Business Center (ADBC), which features the remote inspection of commercial facilities and monitoring of stores and shoppers in Abu Dhabi’s shopping areas to ensure their compliance with the terms and conditions in relation to the implementation of preventive measures of the emirate to limit the spread of COVID-19.

“The Department will also showcase the recently launched ‘Maak’ initiative, an interactive platform between ADDED’s consultants and all customers, including investors and entrepreneurs, as well as the ‘Tahaqaq’ service being administered by ADBC on its website www.adbc.gov.ae, which enables customers to inquire about the business licenses registered in Abu Dhabi and ensures that economic facilities obtain the required official licenses,” he concluded.

This year, GITEX Technology Week is expected to witness the participation of more than 60 countries around the world, in addition to the participation of major global technology companies and emerging next-generation enterprises, being the only technology event in 2020 that will be held live in the UAE since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The global health crisis had limited the organizing of events such as conferences and exhibitions to take place only through electronic platforms and digital technologies.
